Applying for Membership


Are you interested in becoming a Psi Chi member and taking advantage of the many benefits that Psi Chi has to offer? You can obtain a lifetime Psi Chi membership in just a few simple steps.

Step 1:
Visit Psi Chi’s head office website and fill out the brief form provided on this webpage anytime before January 15. Your Lakehead University Psi Chi executive will then obtain a copy of the form and review your file to check whether you meet the membership eligibility criteria.

Step 2:
The Lakehead University Psi Chi chapter executive will contact you in early February via email to inform you as to whether you meet the membership eligibility criteria.

Step 3:
In the event that you meet eligibility criteria, you will be asked to remit a one-time $100 membership fee. This payment will guarantee your lifetime membership to Psi Chi. Of that payment, $55 in U.S. currency is sent to Psi Chi’s head office as part of our chapter dues. The remainder is used to help with payment for events that we put on here at Lakehead University, including our Invited Speaker Series, workshops, and networking events.

Step 4:
Following approval of membership status and remittance of payment, you will be invited to attend the Psi Chi Induction Ceremony, held annually in March at Lakehead University and hosted by your Lakehead Psi Chi executive team. At this ceremony, you will be formally inducted as a new member of Psi Chi and receive your certificate of membership and a membership pin. Each induction ceremony features an invited guest speaker that leads a talk on his or her research or topic of interest related to psychology. More details on the induction ceremony will be provided once you have been approved for membership.
